IMPORTANT NOTICE! Updated 22 November 2025
Work to clear fallen trees and create a new pathway through the forest where "Impassable Area" is marked on the map is ongoing. This affects all Three Lochs Way and John Muir Way users. Scottish Woodlands are working to upgrade the roads and we hope the eventual path will be a significant improvement.
The National Park and Scottish Woodlands consider that this area is now passable but we are not convinced of that so we will leave this diversion information available for a while yet until we see improvements to the path at this point.
Diversion signage as indicated on this map has been removed. Please observe any advice from contractors working in the area as trees are still being extracted and heavy machinery present. The diversion is still a great route with superb views over the Firth of Clyde and is only 1 kilometre longer.
